Touch Me, Babe!

Monday, August 17th, 2009

1. For A Stuffy Nose.
Put your index fingers in the corners of your baby’s eyes, along his nose. (Rest your thumbs by his chin.) Gently press in and up, then glide your fingers bit by bit down the sides of his nose and then across his cheeks. Repeat three times

2. For Colic.
Rub a small amount of body lotion on your hands. Imagine your baby’s tummy as a clock, and put the fingertips of your right hand at 9 o’clock. Stroke from 9 to 12 to 3 in one smooth, slow movement. Repeat three to five times. Next, place the palm of your right hand on your baby’s navel, and put your left hand next to it. Rub your hands firmly over his tummy five times in a clockwise motion. What Would He Do If You Got Pregnant?

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

You’re together and totally in love. Then two little blue lines change everything. Does an unplanned pregnancy mean he’ll do a runner?

Uh – oh…. you’re pregnant. And it wasn’t planned. But it’s okay, you’re loved up with the guy of you dreams, so he’ll be totally supportive with whatever decision you make, right? In an ideal world, maybe, but this is cold harsh reality. Look at Billy Crudup and Mary-Louise Parker: After bering together for eight years, he walked out on her when she was seven months pregnant, straight into the arms of the much younger (decidedly not pregnant) Claire FDanes.

Then there’s Kevin Federline. Despite being ecstatic when de-facto wife Shar Jackson fell pregnant with their second child, he started fooling around with Britney two months before Shar gave birth. Who knows how long he’ll stick around after Britney’s delivered? “Kevin is overwhelmed,” his ex has said. “He’s told me that it’s a lot, what with a wedding, a break-up and two babies in one year. I’ve never heard him say to me that he loves her.”

Picture Of Baby Stroller Image

More than 64,000 children under the age of 4 were taken to the ER for stroller-related injuries during a five-year period, according to a study in pediatrics-largely because they weren’t strapped in properly. To keep your child safe, steer clear of these stroller slipups.

Do:
1. Use the safety brakes to keep the stroller from rolling away when you’re stopped. And do remember to lock the stroller to prevent it from accidentally collapsing while your child in it.

2. Check the manufacturer’s age and weight guidelines to make sure the stroller fits your child. Ideally get a new one so you know it meets the most recent safety standards. (more…)

Picture Of Feeding Time Image

Then maybe you should switch formulas. Feeding time should be one of the most precious moments you share with your baby. But feeding an unhappy baby can be anything but.

Trying to soothe her can be challenging, especially since she can’t tell you what’s wrong. You may have tried different types of bottles and different feeding positions with no success – even singing to her doesn’t seem to work. When you can’t console your little one, you can feel helpless and overwhelmed. All you want is your happy baby back so you can enjoy feeding time again.
